Pick up Head First EJB. It's a good starting point.

Head First EJB does not cover EJB 3. It covers EJB 2 which is completely different. It's a great book, but not useful for learning EJB 3. I recommend "EJB 3 in Action" for learning EJB 3. I'm sure other EJB 3 books are good as well. Do be sure to get an EJB 3 book and not just and EJB book.

You are right but still the Head First EJB can lay the foundation in a solid way.
