HI All,
I stay in bangalore.I have completed diploma in computer science.I am a fresher looking for job. When i see fresher openings most of them will be for the people who have completed B.E/M.C.A/. They wont consider me because i have a lesser degree. I agree that degree is needed but i feel they have to recruit people on talent not on degrees. They wont call me for interview. I am really upset. I am very much interested in java and want to work in java and build my career.Help me all

How do you determine the talent of 2000 people non of whom have experience? One filter is degree; another is school the degree is from.

I posted a thread long ago pointing out that companies don't look for the best candidate, but the good enoguh candidate whothey can find efficently. It's not unreasonable for them to do this.

You need to find a way to make yourself stand out from the pack.

Do not give up and be persistent. You need to some how make your CV stand out from the other (Not necessarilly only with degrees). You know that you are talented and passionate about Java but the employer only looks at your CV. Checkout some tips at http://wwww.lulu.com/java-success

Hi Nik

Well, dont get upset dude.. it happens once in a life time, make it a inspiration to make something big in the future. Those people who are not calling you, it dosen't mean they are good, simply they dont reconize your talent.

You have more talent then them

Best Of Luck

Cheers

You can also look for companies which take freshers as intern/trainee. And if you stand out during that 3 months period, definitely, they will absorb you, and may even help with your higher studies.

Hi nik,

I can understand you. Probably try getting into a small concern which are in their intial starting phase, then you can get into the big concerns with your experience gained.

It would be difficult in the beginning but dont lose your hopes and belief. Try hard and definitely you will achieve it.

Good Luck.

1. Try going to consultancies who can set up interviews with startups for a fee.
2. Maybe you can join a training-cum-recruitment institute, a few decent ones exist in bangalore I think.
3. Try to learn more, learn servlets, jsp, struts, jdbc, xml and hibernate. Adds value to your resume if you know these things.
4. If you can, try doing higher studies, take up MCA if possible.

Just some suggestions bro, hope things work out for you, Ive been in your situation myself and it was very frustrating.

I think, many companies are recruiting BSCs, MSCs etc too, try those companies. Alternatively, as suggested above, join training cum recruitment coaching...

One very important thing, work on your aptitude (logics, math, reasoning, and verbal etc) and communication skills. For a fresher, these two skills are very important. You can refer R S Agarwal for aptitude.

All the best.

My suggestion would be to grab *any* job opportunity and keep working for 1 year. After that period, 'degree' becomes less important and after 2 years totally irrelevant.

Hi,

I understand your situation. My suggestion would be to do part time MCA or BE. It would be more advantageous for your future also. In mean time you can look for jobs as well.

As there are so many BE/MCA graduates around the companies prefer them more than diploma candidates. So obviously you would be their last preference. But don't be disheartened, continue to search for job, try applying for small companies, check with you diploma mates, check with your friends, try for internship, do more certifications, try doing some small projects.

Sometimes even when the newspaper says the minimum requirement says BE/MCA, try applying there. If they are not satisfied with the applied candidates, they might look for others. This might not always work, but give it a try.

All the best.
