I have been working with JSP and Servlets for the past year and think it is the greatest most rewarding language I have worked with and makes my day go by fast and is more challenging than other languages I worked with such as Cold Fusion and PHP. Basically I enjoy work when I develop JSP and Servlets but I cant get ahead as a Developer only in my environment. I am now getting into management and was wondering how others have dealt with leaving Development behind and going into management field. I am managing resources and projects but try and do as much JSP/Servlet work as possible to really "wake" me up during the day. Anyone have regrets about going into management and leaving Development environment? Please give me as much info about the transition and also about the positives and negatives of Technology Management field. [ June 25, 2007: Message edited by: Joseph Smithern ]
There are fields more rewarding than JSP/Servlet (at least in my opinion) like Enterprise Application Integration (e.g. Messaging, SOA, Web Services etc). Being in a hands on manegement role can give you best of both worlds. Good Luck.
