Dear All,

I am an experience Web Application developer having expertise in
"Web Component" part of the J2EE. I have experience in developing
web applications using JSP, Servlets, Struts etc. Recently, I started
thinking for a career shift to SOA and Web Services. So I decided
to do a certification.

I would like to know the career prospects for Web Services.
Since I am not having any experience in implementing Web Services,
do I get any job as a Web Service developer only based on the
Web Services certification?

I may not need sharp anser, however, I expect your views on this.

I would be surprised if you can find a job doing mainly web services with just a certification in hand, and little or no experience. On top of that, there are some job markets where certifications count for little to begin with (not sure if that's true for the one where you'd be competing).

But no (or extremely few) jobs consist entirely of working with web services. It's generally something that is done in addition to other kinds of development (maybe desktop, maybe web, maybe backend).

Yes if you have development experience and if you have knowledge in webservices knowledge getting job is easier in India. SOA & webservices are buzzing words now in India.

Good Luck

If we see the Indian job market , only a very few advertisements ask for candidates with WS experience. The job that involves WS , mgiht ask for candidates those who have good knowledge in java , XML .Exposure to WS is definitely an edge.

But mainly they look for people having good experience in java , servlets , XML.Its assumed that a person having good knowledge in java and XML can learn and implement WS easily.
