Merlin has a lot of bug issues. I expect a fair amount of slippage in the final release.

According to Sun's recent online chat (September 25, 2001):

http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/community/chat/JavaLive/2001/jl0925.html

<pre>
"we will be shipping [JDK 1.4] Beta 3 before the end of this
year. The first Release Candidate will ship at the beginning of
2002, and the Final Product will ship in the first quarter of
2002."

"sullis",
The Java Ranch has thousands of visitors every week, many with surprisingly similar names. To avoid confusion we have a naming convention, described at http://www.javaranch.com/name.jsp . We require names to have at least two words, separated by a space, and strongly recommend that you use your full real name. Please log in with a new name which meets the requirements.
Thanks.
Sean
