Hi! All! I need to open and read ( to convert later ) an MS word document through Java. Is there a way to do the same?? Are there libraries ( in Java ) available to do the same?? Please help me on the same. Regds Gautham Kasinath
It would probably be easiest to use an external program to convert the document. There are plenty available.

Hi! Cindy and David! Thanks a lot for replying.. Anyway I m sure there must be some external programs to do the same.. I also looked up catdoc which is a dos/linux based executable. Now although the source for linux is given it uses some gnu library calls which I am unfortunately unable to compile under my trusted TC compiler. I need something that converts the $ documents to pure gool old ascii files. If you chance upon any please let me know by posting the same here and / or mailing me email@example.com Thanks a lot!!
