Changing HotSpot Client VM to Server VM in J2SE 1.3.1

Hi guys,
I'm using J2SE 1.3.1 for Win32, and I couldn't change the default HotSpot VM (Client VM) to the Server VM even if I invoke "java -server" even after copying the "server" folder to the "<install-dir>\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1\bin" directory. Any workarounds?
Thanks in advance.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
