3 of my classmates and me are doing a project as a part of our curriculum which is titled "Facial Composite system". Its basically building a criminals face on the basis of descriptions given by eye witnesses to aid law enforcers to apprehend criminals.
Is it possible to do it in Java. If so, then which
API should be used .
If not which other software can be used

No problem. You will probable want to look at the Java 2D API and perhaps the Java 3D tutorial not to mention the Java Advanced Imaging tutorial.
