Hai,
I have code related to Byte Pair encoding. It is
specific to C and C++ languages. Is it possible to get the Java code. It
will be helpful for me to proceed further on my work. I tried porting the
code from c to Java, but i have faced problem with the length available in
C & java for character. In java it takes 2 bytes but in C it is one. I have
been trying to get the working code for Java. But till now i didn't get the
proper one. Please help me.

Hi Raj,
Welcome to JavaRanch. Are you having trouble reading the bytes from a file or processing the bytes once read? If you could explain your problem a little more and perhaps post the java code that is giving you grief, maybe we can help you out.

Would using the java 'byte' data type instead of 'char' work?

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
