Dear All,

I have been working in java since 3 years in the same company, I hold SCJP and SCWCD, as I couldnt see much growth in my current position from now, and I am looking for change.

I am very much interested in learning SAP, Having 3 yrs experience in java which SAP module is preferable and you would suggest which could do well for next 2 years.

I had been to Siemens Bangalore were they offer SAP Courses and HDFC back were I could get loan and got the following information

[b]Online SAP Course Duration: [\b]
200 hours (minimum 25 working days and maximum of 5 months)
Slots available from 7 am to 10:00 pm
Fee structure Course Fee of Rs.1, 20,000 + service tax @12.36 Percentage,

Certification Rs.25, 000 + service tax @ 12.36 Percentage

HDFC Bank Loan Information

I could get 90 Percent loan from HDFC Bank, out of 1, 50,000 which I could repay in 4 years time and I also get tax exemption on that amount

BTW is there any rancher who took SAP Online course in Siemens and would like to shares his SAP course experiences

So sorry for the long description guys, let me know your views on this.

Thanks,

SAP siemens seems like the best for training but I hope you aren't thinking you'll land a SAP job simply by training.a friend of mine who had around 3 yrs exp in Java/J2EE trained in something called XI/EP but never found employment because he never had any hands on experience with the SAP implementation life cycle. so now hes back to Java after wasting alot of money and time. I think if you get a chance to work on SAP from within your company be all over it. Otherwise just keep that in mind. Good Luck!

Hi Rashmi,
I had a friend who went to Siemens online course for ABAP and she was saying it was useless all the stuff could be learnt by own she was saying, There is no point in paying 1,60,000 though they provide certification

But the only advantage is that, that is the only way to get eligible for sap certifications.

All this is only sap labs tactics to make more people enroll for courses paying huge fees it is all business

One better thing about taking a loan is that you could claim for tax exemption

All the other Java Rancher views are welcomed.
Thanks

I would say Arvind and Radhika, provided very valuable advice.

If I were you, then would think about doing more certification in java like SCEA and keep trying to get the role I like.

Keep in mind certification do works and no doubt about it, but not without experience.

I would suggest SAP EP would be the best course for 2-3 java experienced people having SCJP and SCWCD, for learning EP course ABAP would be the basics. So I would suggest you to go and enroll for Siemens online course and do the ABAP Certification (though it is expensive it is worth doing the SAP course in Siemens) and the good news about doing course in Siemens is that they do provide 100% placements.

People who have done course in Siemens would be the better person to suggest the quality of education Siemens provide.

Rashmi, I might be thinking short term. But if I were you I would not at all spend one and a half lakh for a course when I have already entered into the industry.

BTW, Can I ask why you don't see much growth in your current position, so soon???

Please do reply.

This is basically an eyewash. I cant be sure about Siemens but I challenge you to find any advertisement of any I.T course institute in India that inst offering 100% placement. Its just a gimmick. What they'll most probably do is
A.) either offer you a "job" in a different state or company that they know you'd never take it. Their obligation is thus done.
b.) employ you themselves and give you some low grade maintainance related work and probably without any pay.
c.) send you to a company of one of their 'affiliates' who will offer similar work at a very very low salary.

Also what they will do is have some people within the training institute who will try telling you no to get employment from these people because they wont do a good job. This will all be an attempt to encourage you not to press them to fulfill their obligation and at the same time they will tell you stories about how people who did the same training found employment on their own to encourage you to believe that you can do it on your own too.
The fact is that thousands of students enroll every week and do you honestly think that they are finding employment for everybody???. This placement thing has become a real racket and needs Govt intervention to put these institutes on check.

Hi Rashmi,

Dont think much about the ABAP course it is evergreen and ABAP is the basic foundation if you have plans to shift your carrier to SAP field from java developer, you could do Enterprise portal or XI after ABAP Certification, so that your java skills doesnt get wasted.

Go ahead and enroll for SAP ABAP Online course in Siemens and try to clear ABAP Certification ASAP, believe me it is worth doing the SAP course in Authorized Training Centers, there are lot of highly paid jobs available for ABAP professionals.

Leave aside 1.5 Lacks i wont spend even 10K from my pocket for training and things like that.

For your case the best is will suggest is that apply to SAP Labs get the job and they will provide you the better salary as well as the training in the ABAP.

My friends who are having around two years of experience gets a lot of call from SAP which says that once selected they should be willing to work on ABAP the training will be provided by SAP.

Good luck

I have a complain to the moderators against the naming policy why cant we choose the duplicate name. Like I want to have my name like Manish Singh but it doesn't allow me. If take like manish100 or something it will b against the policy.

I would say life is all about doing interesting things. I started preparing for SCEA in 2001, when people said Java is gone. But one thing is clear whatever course you do if you don't have experience you will not get the job. So be prepared for worse for some time. And believe if you stick to your target things will work out at later stage.

And I am bit hasitate to advice for the couse for the kind of money you are putting. Its not small amount. I would say since you have java background and very keen do to SAP, think of doing SAP XI. Which has a relation with java and very hot. May be try to do a small course from small institute and see how it goes.

Yes I agree, the numbers for course are very high. If some one is very keen to do course, spend 10K intially do course from small institute and see if it interests further move ahead.
