Believable:
It's the low-wage structure, ironically, that has been one of the main attractions to outsource work to Indian IT companies, thereby acting as a catalyst for the robust growth in the $40 billion Indian IT industry.


I have heard rumblings that as salaries in India grow, it's becoming less attractive and the industry is already looking elsewhere (China) for the next big outsourcing market. Be careful what you wish for!

I have also heard that India is pricing itself out of the cheap outsourcing business. My company is starting to work with vendors in other countries on a very limited basis just to test the waters. I wish fairness for everyone, and not just because it will make my job safer.

I've worked with a couple of companies that outsourced to Bangalore, but the last two that I worked with outsourced to Egypt and Ukraine. I don't know the reasons, but clearly there is competition.

This type of one-to-one comparison is baseless. The economy of perticular country should also be taken into account while comparing.

Indian IT managers get an average salary of $25,000 a year.


Which I feel is ok salary (allthough not good and that is why it is an average). It comes around 988,125 INR/yr. (source)

This difference in economies is the major driver for outsourcing.

As people lose jobs they will be willing to work for lesser salary else if economy becomes very strong it will generate jobs

Salary increase-> Market Moves out--> Unemployment ---> will get people for less salaries/people will engage in other business
