Does [Company A] offer a Tech Lead or Team Lead position for 5 years J2EE exp ?

I have 4 yrs experience in java. One company in Bangalore called me for a techlead interview recently. But I idiotically lost the interview.

After gaining 5 yrs of experience, you should be in a position to negotiate for a technical lead position. Try the forums at [Astroturfing removed --MH] where you can ask company specific feedbacks

Lead position is possible with a 5 year experience and it depnds on how well you do your interview and how much you learned and accomplished in those 5 years.

Guys,

I work for top investment bank in Mumbai. I am also under similar kind of dilemma.
My manager has offered me a choise b/w tech. lead/team lead position. I have 4 yrs of j2EE work exp, I am confused b/w the role/resposibilties in these position. Seniors are requested to guide me on this?.
will Team lead postion will take me away from technology side, I will remain confined to budgeting/task allocation kind of boring stuff. or can I carry tech. things also in parallel to routine activties of team lead. all comments & suggestion are welcome.

Ask your manager if it is a hands-on team lead position. Team lead role can vary a lot from project gto project and company to company. I worked for an insurance company as a team lead where most of my time was in meetings and making technical decisions but it was fully hands-off. I enjoyed team lead roles requiring to build vertical slices and then get team members to follow in addition to other responsibilities like development plan, test plan, release management etc.
 
With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
