Guys,

What would be the pay scale for a guy with 3 years of experience in Mainframes and for a guy with 3 years of experience in Java. How good is the market for Mainframes when compared to Java?

Which job market (meaning geographical location) are we talking about?

Yes what location are you referring to? Also a specific role or job title would help get more specific answers. In general or nationwide, Java jobs pay a median salary of $84210 while Mainframe jobs pay a median salary of $69340. There were 26787 Java jobs posted online in June in comparison to 3709 Mainframe jobs. ... which is a web site that -according to his email address- is maintained by Carl's company. That should really be noted in the interest of full disclosure.
