pls tell what is Documentum & the purpose of it, where it is used...

Documentum is a content management system. Content management is a huge (and difficult to implement) topic. And Documentum itself is quite a big application to get to grips with.

An interesting point to note, if you are straying into the area of CM, the vast majority of CM solutions are bespoke.
