The PATH is an environment variable which describes a path your OS can use to find executable files. (Type "PATH /?" in a command window for its documentation).

The CLASSPATH is an environment variable used by Java to find classes. (JavaRanch has a useful FAQ about this).

SET is a DOS command used to set or view environment variables. (Type "SET /?" in a command window for its documentation).
