Well, you could be more right that you think. One of the reasons that applets are not so popular at the moment is because it's a hassle to download and install Java. Sun is at work to make the JRE download more lightweight, so that the Java browser plug-in is just as quick and easy to install as the Adobe Flash plug-in. That, and JavaFX Script, might make applets much more popular in the future.

I don't think SOA and EAI are Java technologies. Indeed they are enterprise concepts and Java is used to assit those paradigms but, I don't think you can call them Java technologies.
