Hi,

I'd like to know what basis there is for the idea that a book like this is useful, as opposed to, say, spending the time reviewing companies, or practicing programming technologies, or any of a number of other efforts I can make.

I can imagine it is, but I don't need an imaginary job, and you may know of studies or other evidence, and that would be interesting to read - it would help me know how to split my own efforts in finding my next position.

Thanks,
Bret

Hi,

I have seen this book... and as far as I am concerned, this book is definately going to help job hunters who want to brush up there skills before interview in less time...

The author of this book has covered the topics from core java to j2ee to design patters to design issues at one place in a compact manner which is very helpful before one could attend an interview... I mean one can brush up one's skills very easily and in very less time...

Thanks,
Mohd. Irfan Khan

You be the judge by getting a free sample download from http://www.lulu.com/items/volume_54/821000/821310/1/preview/978-1-4116-6824-9-preview.pdf.

I am also soon coming up with "Java/J2EE Resume Companion" to complement this book. Stay tuned at http://www.lulu.com/java-success for this. Also this site has number of free tutorials on sought after technologies like Spring, Hibernate, JSF, JMS, Webservice etc.
