I'm not able to reply to this today, but this question is very important and gets to the heart of the idea for the book.
I'll try to answer it tomorrow or the next day.
I'm traveling to TheServerSide.com Java Symposium in Las Vegas tomorrow. Many of the rock stars will be there!

Ed will be more qualified to answer this. IMHO this book can be an inspirational/motivational one for one to learn a few things from the successful people in the software/pragramming domain. Software development is not all about knowing a language and coding on it. One needs to learn lot of other things like soft skills etc.
I dont think Ed's book address any particular programming language's practitioners. It more about experiences and thought-sharing and in some way thought provoking examples about people who did innovative work in terms technology, framework etc. So I will be surprised if Ed says there is something for Java programmers particularly on this book.
