how can you change the dpi of an image in java?

i need to have a functionality that can change the dpi of the image displayed on an applet and somehow dispaly it again on screen.

can somebody please assist me on this?

i need guidance in here...

If all you're doing is displaying the image on the screen, then changing the DPI doesn't make much sense, because screens have a fixed DPI. Are you talking about scaling the image? Then you can use the java.awt.Image.getScaledInstance() method.
