I had applied for H1B this year and want to know that when us govt will declared selected H1B files ?
You simply cannot know, it may be very late, up to late September 2008. Issue is that process is not over until all of 65,000 visas are attributed to ACCEPTED petitions, so a first 65,000 batch of petitions is selected for examination from the some ? 400,000 ? pool of candidate petitioners, but of course not all of them are accepted, let's say 10,000 petitions are rejected. Then another smaller batch of 10,000 petitions is selected from remaining pool and examined, etc..., until ALL of 65,000 H1B visas are attributed to valid petitions.
This process lasts for months, and you only know when you are accepted or rejected or all visas are attributed, so very late after after 1st April, up to late September 2008.
USCIS just announced a preliminary number of nearly 163,000 H1b applications received between 4/1/08-4/7/08 with more than 31,200 of those petitions being in the advanced degree category. The CIS anticipates conducting the H1b lottery next week. The H1b masters degree lottery will be conducted prior to the general H1b quota lottery.
Seems that the race for H1B is harder and harder in these few years, eventhough there's recession happening in US.
