i am working with pune based MNC IT company of german origin which is recently taken over by another indian IT major, there is a lot of confusion on the future, i want to know what would be the effect of this takeover on my job
another area of concern is the large difference in the payscale of both the companies where the average payscale in the company which is taken over is too much that the company which is taking it over.
will it result in the correction of pay package or layoff?

We really can't tell you. There's no rule that when one company takes over another specific things have to happen. Rather they make decisions based on the specific circumstances. About the only consistent thing I've seen with takeovers is layoffs, since there will be redundancies. I would recommend talking to people in your company about what it means, ask your manager, other managers, your peers, and the executives.

Agreed. This means that if you are only a so-so developer (or any so-so employee), it doesn't matter if you came from the company that did the takeover or the company that get taken over -- you are at risk.

As for the great employees, it doesn't really matter either. If the newly formed company doesn't recognize the talent, it is their lost -- as great employees generally have much better options to leave anyway.
