In the O'Rielly book, Java by Example, there is a chapter on graphics that tells you how to tile a background image. I don't have the book in front of me, but from what I remember, it's no more than about 10 lines of code. I will get the book at lunch and tell you where to find it - unless someone beats me to it!!!
