Connecting a JScrollBar to a JPanel urgent

I have a JPanel (350, 1600) which contains a number of JTextfields. I would like to connect a JScrollBar to the JPanel;
I dont want to insert the panel into a JScrollPane since I dont
want the JPanel to appear within a box ie I want it to blend with the JFrame which is 450, 650. How do I make the connection.
