Can I change the List's DLM dynamically?

I have the following syntax:
DefaultListModel dlm= new DefaultListModel(); JList list = new JList(dlm);; JScrollPane clientScroll = new JScrollPane(list);
For example, I have method inside my class that receives
object , I want to put this object instead of the current dlm in run time, can I do this?
