Hello Ranchers,

I need a career advice .I have 4 years of experience in Java/J2EE technologies and presently working with a product company in Bangalore

One of my friend is starting his own company in the domain of IT security and is asking me to join with him.In the initial discussions with him what i had figured out is it has nothing to do with JAVA/J2EE

They will be offering security solutions to Organizations

And regrading pay he has offered me two types of pay
1) Pay as per market standards
2) Take a lesser salary then what i am drawing right now and equities in the new company

I want to know what is the scope of IT Secuirty and what is the future of these type of companies.

If i decided to join this company which is the best way to opt for the package

Please give me some career advice

Thanks & Regards
Jagan

Can you be more precise on what you mean by IT security and whom they plan to approach. Do they plan to launch a product or provide services ?

They want to start with Indian Companies first and they would be providing services to these companies in IT security

Be skeptical of such ventures if you're yourself not an expert in the domain and therefore don't have any clue about the prospects.

You'll loose your independence when 'working' for a friend in any capacity while not being an equal partner.
