JList - Multiple selection without the ctrl key?

Is there a way to have multiple selection on a JList without holding down the control key? At least in my environment (Win NT) a JList in the default selection mode, multiple entries can only be selected by holding down the control key (otherwise, what you select becomes the only item selected). I don't want to require the control key to be pushed (I've seen that type of behavior somewhere before...webpages maybe?)
Thanx,
-Chris
