Can anyone recommend a book which has great detail on JTabbedPanes. I am working on a small project and I want to make use of Tabs

have you checked out the tutorial at Sun? They really do a pretty good job of explaining the basics of all the Swing objects.
JTabbedPane is a very simple object to use compared to something like JFrame or JTable. just create a JPanel that holds the content you want associated with a particular tab and call tabbedPane.add("tab name",panel). Thats it. clicking that tab will show that panel.

of course you could also just look at the Java Docs on JTabbedPane.
