When I am on the forums page, how do I get back to the main page? I am on http://www.javaranch.com and I want to go to the Rules Roundup page. I do not see a link back to "Home".

at the very bottom of every page, you should see two links:

contact us | JavaRanch

the second one should take you where you want to go.

Thanks; on the other pages, the navigation is often just above the content as it is in this page where I'm writing this reply which also has the link you refer to at the bottom of the page. Guess I was wondering why the inconsistency?

Actually the home page (www.javaranch.com) is in the breadcrumb navigation. For example,

JavaRanch Big Moose Saloon Java Servlets

JavaRanch takes you back. It doesn't appear while you are posting/replying but every other view has this link.

I'll have to look again; I did not see that. I've always had to go back to the URL in the location bar to get back to the home page.

I don't see any bread crumb navigation on this page back to JavaRanch:
http://www.javaranch.com

except at the bottom of the page which you pointed out earlier.

Yep, you're right. I rarely visit that page.

yeah, the bread crumbs only appear once you are in a forum/thread, not on the main page. I've often wondered about this, but to be honest, even adding that was relativly recent.

also, i just noticed this. While entering editing this post, the bread crumbs look like this:
JavaRanch Big Moose Saloon This Site JavaRanch JavaRanch site navigation

but when reading the thread, they look like this:

JavaRanch Big Moose Saloon This Site JavaRanch JavaRanch site navigation

so we're not even internally consistant.

What are you talking about? There are breadcrumbs at the top of the front page! What's more, it's always been like that! I didn't just change it or anything -- honest!

Ah, sorry. I had to change it back -- my change was messing up the HTML "TITLE" on the front page. I'll come up with some other way to do it, though.

These aren't the breadcrumbs you're looking for.
