Disabling minimizing a JFrame when there is a child Dialog open

Hi
I want to be able to disable minimizing a JFrame when there is a modal JDialog opened as a child of the JFrame. This should work by having the JDialog as modal. However it doesn't work when I have my program on Solaris 8 platform. The JFrame is still allowed to minimize and exit, even though there is a modal JDialog opened in front of it. I am using JDK1.3.1_07 and it works fine on Windows.
Is there anyway to force the desired behaviour on the Solaris(unix) platform? (i.e. ensure the JFrame cannot be minimized when there is a modal JDialog opened in front of it)
Thanks!
