is it possible to set the Java swing application's background to b transparent but the controls likes comboboxes, buttons, labels,... should b visible?
only the controls should appear in the application not the appln's background. hence when i opened that swing-based java application the other applications running behind should b visible to the user other than the control's regions. means only the controls r opaque. rest of the application's area is transparent.
just like i should not give the background color to the frame/window.
hope the idea is clear. u can put out ur thoughts here.
thank u very much.

Not with just plain Java Swing components, no. You can do this by using Skin L&F though. Though as far as I know, the window transparency stuff only works in Windows.
