In an earlier thread there was discussion about Java 1.5 and it being able to use an Opengl pipeline for rendering 2D graphics.

I am under the impression that Swing uses the Graphics2D API for rendering it's components thus using the opengl pipeline. Can anyone verify any of this information?

I know that if I create my own Graphics2D objects it does what it is supposed to do, but I would like to know if the same is true for JButton, JTextField, etc.

Thanks.
