SWT new Threads don't terminated upon disposal?

Basically, I have the following piece of code where I create a thread that updates the cursor location in a label every 25 ms. The problem is, the thread doesn't seem to terminate upon exit (since the process stays alive in eclipse). If I launch the thread as daemon, everything is fine, but why won't this work?
