integrating MS Excel in a Java Program

I want to write a program wherein the data submitted in the GUI frame can be mapped to MS Excel and draw bar graphs and charts.I have taken the input data to MS Access database but could not get to the excel files for charts..
I am new to java, so please help...

First of all, keep in mind that "excel" is only available on windows. If you feel that you must read/write in xls format, check out the POI project:

If you're just trying to make charts, don't tie yourself to an expensive application that some of your users won't have. Why not use JFreeChart instead:

Both of these projects are free and open source.
