JTable column header spanning multiple columns

Can anyone tell me how to create a JTable column header that spans multiple adjacent columns? If this is not possible, can you tell me how to simulate this?

That's a clean and cool solution. Maybe it should be included in the standard J2SE api...

Or maybe it's already included?
