Grid overwrites contents of Frame

Hi. I have a method constructGrid(). Whenever I call it, it overwrites all the contents of the frame. I was thinking of making 2 panels, put one in the north and one in the center.
My question is, how do I make the grid form in the center panel?
This is how my constructGrid looks like.
