The windowClosing() is called when the user selects the Close (Usually an "X") window decoration in the corner of the window. The windowClosed() is called after the dispose() method has been called on a window. Note that if you call setVisible(false); dispose();, the windowClosing() will not be called. Likewise, if the user selects the "close" window decoration, windowClosed() will not be called.
Hope that helps!
