How to avoid image caching in Swing

I have an applet, which uses multiple images. Some of the images are loaded based on user actions. Applet makes http request and server loads images from file system (server hard disc) using ImageIcon and then converts to int array which gets added to the response.

On the client side image is reconstructed using Toolkit.createImage and displayed on the applet.

Problem I'm facing, even after image on the server is changed, applet does not show the updated image, even after applet is closed and reopened. How can I avoid caching of these images? Thanks
