Hi,

The term Rich Client makes me wonder where you see richness in them? Isn't the term overloaded?

Maybe you can explain in this context the filthyness in your clients .

Darya

A rich client is defined as an application which does local storage and processing, by opposition with thin clients (web sites), who don't do either. But today a rich client is mostly known as a desktop application with a UI.

And it is precisely why we found the term overloaded that we came up with "filthy rich clients." If today's rich clients are rich, how can we call rich clients that are more rich? Richer clients? Chet came up with "filthy rich clients." So, filthy rich clients are rich clients with cool UIs

I still don't get it . Before your answer I would have asked about the aspects that you call filthy and rich. But now I must ask what the aspects for coolness (at least in an UI) are .

A "cool" UI is visually appealing and polished, it contains animations and transitions without getting in the user's way. It makes you want to use the application, no matter how boring the application might be.

Were you really so confused about the name of the book?

I think a lot more could be asked about the content of the book rather then the name, I am sure Romain can elighten us on other topics rather then explaining the book title.

I was just talking with an associate the other day about what a cool name this was for a book. Amazing that no one has used it before.

Are you with me ?

If yes, think about it. Isn't the title the most important thing ? Actually this is the first thing I catch with my eyes and hence the most important one because otherwise I wouldn't take a notice from it. On the other hand, if you follow my threads like this one you can see that I use the title to get to the content of that new book, step by step .

Darya

Hello Darya Akbari ,
You mean that title is more important than what content is.If that is the case some other people who are good at Framing words will fit than Romain and Chet.
Romain and Chet are excellent guys rather than concentrating much on title look for the content.
