please give us our email update back

with warm regards,

When something goes wrong you can
1) complain about losing the functionality
2) inform us that there appears to be a problem so we can look into it.

To my knowledge we are unaware of any issues, so we will look into it.

yes you are right, but we need an email alert functionality which was avoidable when i subscribed to javaranch, but now it is not there.

If there is an email alert when somebody reply back to our post, we can look into the reply, and get the solution to our problem faster by giving a quick response.

Have you explored the "Watch Topic" buttons at the top and the bottom of each thread? What you describe is exactly the functionality they provide.

What's gone is the checkbox on the post page, but that's no loss - Watch Topic is much better. Try it - you'll like it.

Glad to hear it's working. Just as a suggestion, maybe next time fewer emoticons will do, and personally I think "suffering" is a rather too strong word for what is a minor inconvenience at best.

Its good that i found out this thread as I was about to post the same content. I was fond of the 'email alert' checkbox in the new posts!

Just because it is a replica of Watch Topic, it is removed? If i am right, the Watch topic was having a limit to 20 posts. Aint I?

Wow.. I found out the remedy!

There is an option 'Add a Watch automatically for each topic I start', which has got checked by default and obviously reduces the burden!

Nice of you moderators!

But Ulf, what about the limit on the threads being watched? Is it increased?

Yes, the limit has been relaxed some time ago.
