I want to know where to use the following methods of session tracking.
1. User Login For e.g ) Entry Screen
2. Hidden HTML Shopping Cart Items & Quantity
3. URL rewriting addition info for selected link
4. Cookies User name & password. Other data like address, telephone numbers.
5. Session Handling API Sensitive information, Shopping cart details.
Am i correct. If someone can give me some more live examples and the pitfalls in each method it would be of great help.

I really don't understand your question, esp. when you use the word "method".
IMHO, the session tracking interface (javax.servlet.http.HttpSession) is one of the greatest inventions in Java, I think. It allows you to concentrate on the business needs and not on the details of HOW is it that you "track" the Web session of a user.

U can do session tracking in any of the following ways
1. Hidden fields
2. Cookies
3. Using 'HttpSession'
4. URL rewriting
U may use any of the ways depending on ur requirement. For eg if ur browser wont support cookies, then use any of the others.
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
