I want to know where to use the following methods of session tracking. 1. User Login For e.g ) Entry Screen 2. Hidden HTML Shopping Cart Items & Quantity 3. URL rewriting addition info for selected link 4. Cookies User name & password. Other data like address, telephone numbers. 5. Session Handling API Sensitive information, Shopping cart details. Am i correct. If someone can give me some more live examples and the pitfalls in each method it would be of great help. Bye simple steps
I really don't understand your question, esp. when you use the word "method". IMHO, the session tracking interface (javax.servlet.http.HttpSession) is one of the greatest inventions in Java, I think. It allows you to concentrate on the business needs and not on the details of HOW is it that you "track" the Web session of a user.

By methods i meant which of the listed options i need to use for session tracking.
U can do session tracking in any of the following ways 1. Hidden fields 2. Cookies 3. Using 'HttpSession' 4. URL rewriting U may use any of the ways depending on ur requirement. For eg if ur browser wont support cookies, then use any of the others.
