XML Descriptor

Hi, I am a newbie at servlets, and I am trying to do my XML Descriptor. Unfortunately, I know very little XML.
Can someone tell me exactly what does <context-param> do?
Also, in the example descriptor that servlet 2_2 spec gave, they have
<servlet>
<servlet-name>catalog</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>com.mycorp.CatalogServlet</servlet-class>
<init-param>
<param-name>catalog</param-name>
<param-value>Spring</param-value>
</init-param>
</servlet>
What is Spring in the above code?
What is mime? How will it affect the servlet's work?
What is welcome file? What do they do?
I know it's alot of questions. But I am really bad at XML.

Hi, it's the
<context-param>
<param-name>Webmaster</param-name>
<param-value>webmaster@mycorp.com</param-value>
</context-param>
in the "A Basic Example" in 13.3.1 of servlet 2_2 specification.

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
