Counting the votes

hi friends
i am doing a project for online opinion poll. in this i am taking input from different users(opinions by clicking on the radio buttons). i have to count the total votes submitted by the users. how can i do this. if i have to use a table to enter the vote, then everytime the user submits, que is getting added in the table. this repetition is to be avoided. pls suggest how to solve this problem.
