Lets hear it for our book winners!!!
Here is how the winners were chosen: I went through the forum and counted how many posts were made on or after the 28th (when I announced the contest). Then I entered the number in the random number generator below. The number that came up was added to the first post that was posted since the beginning of the contest. So if the number 100 came up, and your you post was the 100th post since the beginning of the contest, you won!
Also the author had to have a proper name and the message had to have some substance (not just "thanks" or "enter me in the contest" or "yeah, what he said").
I used this little program for the random number generator:
code:
import java.util.* ;
public class Pick
{
public static void main( String[] args )
{
int numPicks = Integer.parseInt( args[0] );
Random r = new Random();
for( int i = 0 ; i < 10 ; i++ )
{
r.nextInt();
}
System.out.println( r.nextInt( numPicks ) + 1 );
}
}
Fair enough?
A big THANKS to the good folks at SYBEX (http://www.sybex.com) for the books!
Questions? Comments? Should we do this again? I think we should! As a matter of fact the next big book giveaway will be:
Dec 5: We will give away four copies of "Advanced Programming for the Java 2 Platform" by Austin and Pawlan.
Best Regards,
Matt Midcap

Book giveaways (and free stuff, in general) are good things! So, is this forum going to be the one for the next giveaway or will another forum be selected?
BTW, 42 isn't just the meaning of life but the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything!
