One attractive thing about JSP is that compiling, storing the class file and executing is all handled by the JSP engine. If you have your JSP engine, such as Tomcat or JRun, configured correctly, you can mix .jsp files in with your .html files on the web server. When a .jsp file is requested, the corresponding servlet created from the jsp file is executed.
Because the engine handles the compilation of a .jsp file into Java source code and then compiles, you main worry will be getting the supporting class library files in the right place.
Download the JSP API (it is a 860kb PDF file) from java.sun.com for lots of details.
