VC++ client invoking servlet

We are building a vc++ client (similar to yahoo messenger).The client queries a database based on user selection. We want a servlet to handle all requestes from clients nad then use connection pooling to connect to the database and execute the query and then return the result in a text file to the VC++ client.
Do u think this is a good approach (there could be hundreds of clients querying the database at the same time). We dont want to use a COM objects on MTS.
how do i post data to a servelt using post method from a VC++ client
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanx in advance
