Chatting project - Urgent help

I have developed chatting software like IRC in which anyone can enter the room. That was based on HTTP protocol but when tried to implement for a private room or 1-1 chatting, I AM NOT ABLE TO DO THAT based on HTTP protocol. Although socket is an option but due to limitation caused by firewall implemented in the company, this option is not helpful.
Pls help me in this regard.
