Where should I place the *.shtml file in the Java Web Server

I have written a servlet and a *.shtml file for Server Side Include to pass parameters to the servlet. But when I try to invoke the .shtml file from the browser I got an error message "File not found".
The method I used to invoke the .shtml file is:
http://localhost:8080/filename.shtml
I had saved the .shtml file in the Java Web Server directory
I want to know where I should place the .shtml file in the Java Web Server so that it can be run from the browser and the result sent to the client.
Please help
