JSP calendar problem

i am having problems finding get the weekday of the first day of the current month and the total number of days in the current month to be displayed on a jsp page

I think this works, but only tested on current day, so you may want to verify other dates. Calendar and Date don't seem to have a getLastDayOfMonth() or similar, so I coded some stuff. Not really sure if this is the best solution, but it seems to work.

got the answer an easier way thanks
ie try to find the length of 'month'
cal.setTime(new Date(year,month+1,day));
wish there was a more direct way to do it, maybe should say something to the lads at Sun
