what is the difference between servelets and applets?

HI,
The main difference is that Servlets run on the server side and Applets run on the client side(on the client machine).When U request for a page that has a applet in it the class file for the Applet comes to the client machine and the runs on the JVM that is provided by your browser.It cannot access your local files.Servlets on the other hand run on a WebServer that hosts your files.Hope this helps
