This week's book giveaway is in the OCAJP 8 forum. We're giving away four copies of OCA Java SE 8 Programmer I Study Guide and have Edward Finegan & Robert Liguori on-line! See this thread for details.
Hi Guys, I have a query, i want a functionality that when i submit the form and the requset goes to the servlet, i want a message like your request is being processed to be displayed to the user while the request is being processed in the background by the servlet and when the request has been processed then show the user the respective jsp.HOw is that possible, please advice me. Regards, Daman
you could performs your work in a low-priority background thread, returning only the results you have so far or maybe just a "processing..." statement. If these results are not complete, send a Refresh header instructing the browser to ask for new results a little while later.
Here is an example of what you describe, taken from Chapter 14 of my book. You can download the entire source code from my website if that is more convenient: http://www.philhanna.com
